Taeyang becomes the first male K-pop artist to be named a global ambassador for Givenchy

On January 17, Soompi reported that the luxury French fashion brand officially confirmed that “Givenchy is pleased to announce the appointment of Taeyang as 2023 global ambassador.”

Taeyang became the first male K-pop artist to be named a global ambassador for Givenchy and will be attending Givenchy’s Men’s Fashion Week show in Paris tomorrow. Taeyang also remarked that "I am grateful to be able to start this new chapter of my life with Givenchy. It holds a special meaning to me, as Givenchy is a brand that has inspired me in many ways over the years."

Givenchy creative director Matthew Williams said that, "Taeyang is an inspiring artist—a music pioneer with an authentic, barrier-breaking way of expressing his own personal style, which fits perfectly with today’s Givenchy aesthetic.

On January 3, THE BLACK LABEL released the photo through its Instagram account.

In the picture, the artist can be seen wearing a sleeveless vest, showing off his toned arms. Taeyang exudes charisma befitting of a K-Pop icon.

Most importantly, the new profile picture is a sign that the artist will be much more active. Previously, Taeyang made K-Pop fans’ hearts stop when it was revealed that he was in the studio with none other than BTS‘s Jimin.

History

On September 22, 2015, YG Entertainment announced the creation of the independent sub-label to be headed by YG producer Teddy and Kush.^[3] On March 17, 2016, Zion.T signed with the label.^[4] On May 3, 2017, Okasian signed an exclusive contract with the label.^[5] Danny Chung (formerly known as Decipher) has also signed with The Black Label.^{[citation needed][when?]} The label is also home to Jeon Somi, who signed with the label in September 2018, and debuted on June 13, 2019.^[6] On November 16, 2020, as per the quarterly stock report of YG Entertainment, the label was converted to an associate company status.^[7] On December 26, 2022, the company announced Taeyang will be joining them but will remain a member of the group Big Bang.^[8]
